Notice to all Controlled Substances Registration Registrants:
Senate Bill 195 (84th Legislative Session), eliminates the requirement for a practitioner to have a Controlled Substances Registration with the state of Texas, effective Sept. 1, 2016. To implement this change, all active/current Controlled Substances Registrations (CSR) expired on Aug. 31, 2016. The Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) has been transferred to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP). In order to establish and maintain this new program, the TSBP will need to assess a $7.85 fee to all individuals licensed by this board and authorized to prescribe or dispense controlled substances. The $7.85 fee was added to the active DVM license renewal fees effective September 1, 2016. Official prescription pad ordering information as well as additional information about the PMP may be found on the Texas State Pharmacy Board website.
