Second Question of the Day November 17, 2015 Twenty co-signers of a letter sent to the FDA (an effort that IACP says was led by Congressmen Matt Salmon (R-AZ and Kurt Schrader (D-OR)) suggests the agency does not have the statutory authority to interfere with the state-regulated practice of veterinary medicine and that as written the guidance attempt to create new regulatory authority without legislation to support that effort. Does this mean that the 500 plus members of Congress who did not sign the letter addressed to the FDA believe they do in fact have this authority? Why or why not?
