Texas May be Shifting Prescription Drug Monitoring Program from Doctors to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy if legislation passes

TMA also won a provision in the bill to eliminate the state Controlled Substances Registration permit physicians must get — in addition to their Drug Enforcement Administration license — to prescribe. Ongoing hang-ups in the state process, now handled by DPS, have cost many physicians a temporary suspension of their hospital and prescribing privileges.
