Second Question of the Day August 5, 2014 Some claim that patients will always need compounded pain medications as an option? How are compounding pharmacies and doctors justifying compounding pain medications when there are commercially available medicines (leaving aside the issue of addiction)? The patient would have needed to try all commerically available options and the doctor and pharmacy document that those did not work or that the patient was alllegic to all of those commerically availables? If investigators start looking at the documentation will this show all laws have been complied with or will it show fraud and abuse in prescribing these compounded pain creams?
