Ohio Opthalmological Society Encourages Compounding Pharmacies to Register as Outsourcing Facilities

The OOS is continuing to track the federal implementation of the compounding legislation passed last while. The American Academy of Ophthalmology has been monitoring and working with federal officials to ensure proper access to drugs moving forward. All the federal legislation overrides any state legislation moving forward. Many of the former compound pharmacies are now registering as outsourcing facilities as part of the new law which provides them with more flexibility for distribution (i.e. non-patient specific prescriptions). The FDA is continually updating the list of registered outsourcing facilities and other updates.
