Real life example. My podiatrist prescribed a compounded anti-inflammatory yesterday (basically Topical
, muscle relaxant and numbing agent). Pharmacy out of called and asked if it was ok to ship. When I asked about my co-pay, it was an incredible $430. Needless to say, I called the dr back and requested branded ($12 co-pay). My immediate thought was, "Man....these guys are in on this with the docs." The RX was a multiple choice of compound products and they just checked with one they wanted. I think my original thought was spot on...
