Following an inspection on February 24, 2014 and subsequent investigation, the Board of Registration in Pharmacy (“Board”) directed New England Home Therapies of Southborough, MA to cease and desist all sterile compounding operations. The Board issued a formal cease and desist order to the facility on February 26, 2014. The pharmacy was observed to be non-compliant with Board regulations and USP 797 standards, including but not limited to requirements pertaining to environmental monitoring and primary and secondary engineering controls. At this time, there is no indication of patient harm. DPH has ensured that the pharmacy has made plans to ensure the continuity of care for patients. As the investigation is ongoing, no further details are available at this time. The Board continues its ongoing regulatory inspection and enforcement of this industry, ensuring patient safety and product quality.
