ALLEGAN (WKZO) -- Congressman Fred Upton is touting the benefits to pharmaceutical companies in west Michigan of his Drug Quality and Security Act. It was signed into law last fall by President Obama in response to the fungal meningitis outbreak from 2012 that killed several Michigan residents. Upton toured the Allegan County drug maker Perrigo Tuesday, telling reporters the new law will help that company and Pfizer by regulating compounding pharmacies and setting up a tracking system for drugs.
