Courses on Achieving ACHC Accreditation

Pharmacy Workshop

March 10-11, 2014 I 8:00am - 4:30pm I Las Vegas, NV

ACHC Pharmacy workshops are designed to educate pharmacy personnel on the requirements needed to achieve and maintain compliance with ACHC Pharmacy standards. Participants may attend one or both days of training based on their responsibilities within their organization.

Day 1:
Designed for pharmacy personnel responsible for managing the accreditation process and preparing an organization for a successful survey. Course instructors will provide in-depth training on each step of the accreditation process, specific strategies that can be utilized to prepare for the survey, and ongoing compliance with ACHC standards. Participants will also learn how to avoid the most common accreditation pitfalls by reviewing the “Top 10 Standards Deficiencies” as well as learn specific techniques for developing functional Performance Improvement (PI) and Compliance programs. (The process for Non-Sterile (Ref. USP <795>) and Sterile (Ref. USP <797>) Compounding are specifically covered on day 2.)

 Learning Objectives (Day 1):
  • Become familiar with the initial and renewal accreditation process
  • Learn how to prepare an organization for the accreditation survey 
  • Detail the essential components of functional PI and Compliance programs 
  • Establish expectations for survey day and strategies for survey success 
  • Learn how to utilize the ACHC Accreditation Guide to Success workbook to ensure ongoing compliance
Intended Audience (Day 1):
This workshop is ideal for pharmacy personnel preparing for initial or renewal accreditation. For a comprehensive overview of the Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding process, participants should also attend Day 2.


Day 2:
Designed to provide Pharmacists with a comprehensive overview of the requirements for Non-Sterile (Ref. USP <795>) and Sterile (Ref. USP <797>) Compounding accreditation and certification. This course offers education for pharmacists, covering compliance with federal and state regulations as well as industry best practices. Course instructors break down ACHC Pharmacy standards in an easy-to-understand style, allowing participants to gain a complete understanding of the correct Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding processes.

 Learning Objectives (Day 2):
  • Review Sterile (Ref. USP <797>) and Non-Sterile (Ref. USP <795>) Compounding, Specialty, Infusion, and Long Term Care Pharmacy process standards
  • Establish expectations for survey day and strategies for survey success 
  • Discuss compliance topics 
  • Learn how to utilize the ACHC Accreditation Guide to Success workbook to ensure ongoing compliance 
Intended Audience (Day 2):
This workshop is ideal for Pharmacists preparing for initial or renewal accreditation or certification. The course is also applicable to regulatory bodies (i.e., State Boards of Pharmacy) and compliance personnel interested in the compliance requirements for pharmacy compounding.
