BHA: Plans in place to DOUBLE the amount of testing post-race to catch dope cheats By GAVIN BEECH PUBLISHED: 12:22 EST, 22 December 2013 | UPDATED: 12:22 EST, 22 December 2013

The BHA are to double the number of horses tested post-race as part of a series of new measures designed to enhance its anti-doping and medication control policies. 
It has been a challenging year for the BHA with high profile investigations resulting in an eight-year ban for Mahmood Al Zarooni for doping horses and Gerard Butler suspended for five years after being found guilty of injecting his horses with steroids. 
Among the measures set out, the BHA are to double the number of testing-in-training samples taken, as well as increase post-racing testing by 20 per cent and significantly increasing their budget for research.
