At the 2013 International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress hosted in Dublin, Ireland, NABP presented information on online pharmacy safety and rogue online drug sellers to delegates at a session dedicated to online health. NABP shared its finding with delegates that almost 97% of more than 10,000 Internet Web sites selling drug products and reviewed by the organization are operating out of compliance with pharmacy laws and practice standards in the United States and many other developed countries. NABP explained that these findings underlined the need for the international pharmacy community to work together to protect the global public health from dangerous counterfeit and adulterated medications often sold by such rogue sites. The organization also discussed its plan, initiated with the support of a global coalition of stakeholders, to establish the .PHARMACY generic Top-Level Domain , a domain space that would be a secure and trustworthy destination where consumers around the globe can be sure that the medications they buy online are authentic and safe.
