Four doctors, five employees of Wagoner Medical Center charged with 95 felonies in drug probe 9 employees accused of dangerous drug practices


KOKOMO, Ind. - Four doctors and five employees at a Kokomo medical clinic linked to dangerous drug practices now face a total of 95 felony counts.
Four doctors, three physician assistants, a nurse and an office manager were charged Friday by the Howard County Prosecutor's Office.
Dr. Don Wagoner, his wife, Dr. Marilyn Wagoner, Dr. William Terpstra and Dr. Robert Brewer face multiple counts of dealing in narcotics and other controlled substances.
Physician assistants Gary Hartman, Thomas Hewitt and John Thomas, nurse Linda Richards and office manager Michelle Wagoner face multiple counts of conspiracy to deal in narcotics and other controlled substances.
The Indiana Attorney General's Office said its investigation into the Wagoner Medical Center revealed high prescribing rates for controlled pain medications and 26 patient deaths resulting from multiple drug toxicity linked to the clinic.
All of the suspects -- with the exception of John Thomas -- are in custody.
