Texas State Senator Van de Putte, R.Ph., authored Senate Bill 500, which relates to the practice of pharmacy. SB 500 would increase the number of Board members from 9 to 11, adding an additional pharmacist and a pharmacy technician. In order for a pharmacy technician to be appointed to the Board, they must be a Texas resident, registered as a pharmacy technician for five years, and in good standing. SB 500 has passed Senate unanimously and will now be considered by the House.

Texas Legislators Considering Bill to increase Texas Board of Pharmacy members form 9 to 11 and include a pharmacy technician
