In Should doctors and patients be informed when high-risk pharmacy compounded products are used? written by Michael Cohen is a very interesting read about human compounding. To read that article click here. But this also raises the question of whether veterinarians should inform animal owners that pharmacy compounded preparations are being used on their pets? How many times are pet owners told? I can honestly say I have never been told by a veterinary even though I still have the bottle of compounded preparation nor have I ever been told by a pharmacists that a prescription is compounded. I have been told by doctors and nurses before that a medication is compounded.
